UNN Set to Honour Pioneer Graduates

The University of Nigeria, Nsukka,  is planning a week-long ceremony to honour its pioneer Graduates as part of the events to mark the 2013 founder’s day of the Institution. The ceremony is expected to run from October 2-7, 2013.
It will be recalled that the doors of the University were opened to 220 students in 1960, while 150 of them graduated in 1963.
Inaugurating the committee on 50th anniversary of 1st graduates of the University of Nigeria, Monday, the Vice-Chancellor, Prof Bartho Okolo said that the it was a thing of honour for the University to have produced its first graduates three years after it was established in 1960, and will therefore be pleased to honour its pioneer graduates who started its journey to restoring the dignity of man. 

“I hereby inaugurate you for the job of organising the 50th anniversary of the first graduates of the University of Nigeria; I hope you will do this with your very best. We all know your antecedents as men and women of character and purpose, and we are very optimistic that you will do the job very well, congratulations”, he said.

 Dr Ewurum, who was the President, National Alumni Association of the University of Nigeria, from 2001-2005, added that the uniqueness of the pioneer set was evident in their active involvement in the affairs of the University as four of them had served as national  Alumni Presidents out of the total of 10 presidents so far recorded by the alumni Association. UNN TO COLLABORATE WITH HOWARD UNIVERSITY IN PHARMACY, MEDICINE, NURSING SCIENCES, DENTISTRY AND LAW

The Vice-Chancellor, Professor Bartholomew N. Okolo, has taken advantage of his recent visit to Maryland, USA to meet with the management and faculty of Howard University, Washington DC on Friday, August 16, 2013 to discuss the modalities for establishing academic collaborations between the two universities. Those who met with the Vice-Chancellor include the Provost and Chief Academic Officer, Dr. Wayne A. I. Fredrick and the Senior Academic Adviser to the President of Howard University, Dr. Alvin Thornton (who represented the President, Dr. Sidney A Ribeau). Others were the Dean of the College of Pharmacy, Dr. Anthony Wutoh, the Dean of the College of Medicine, Dr. Mark Johnson and Dean of the College of Nursing and Allied Sciences, Dr Mary Hill.

The meetings started with presentations by both universities during which they highlighted their respective strengths and accomplishments. Read More

CHANGE OF DEGREE PROGRAMME FOR 2013/2014 SESSION

This is to announce the commencement of the process for change of Degree Programme for 2013/2014 session.
Interested students should strictly adhere to the Guidelines for Change of Degree Programme and the Application Procedure on the University of Nigeria website (www.unn.edu.ng) and portal (www.portal.unn.edu.ng).
The online application takes effect from Monday September 09, 2013 and ends on Friday, September 27, 2013.
